Check out the latest AVCHD powered camera from Sony, the HDR-CX12. Measuring 69mm x 67mm x 129mm and weighing 420grams (with battery), the camcorder features a new Exmor CMOS sensor with 10MP ClearVid 1/3.13-inch and the BIONZ technology. The HDR-CX12 sports Full HD recording 1920×1080i in AVCHD (Mpeg4 AVC/H.264, 16Mbps), the HDV support (1440×1080i) in 5/7/9Mbps and HDMI output. Other features include smile shutter and face detection, Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T 12 optical zoon lens, a 2.7-inch LCD, 5.1 surround sound microphone, and Memory Stick PRO Duo (4GB Memory Stick PRO Duo (Mark2) in the box) storage. Sony HDR-CX12 will be out in Japan in July but will hit stateside by August for around $900. It will be sold with a 8GB Memory Stick since it has no Hard Disk Drive. [Akihabara]

Sanyo’s Xacti HD1010 boasts a full 1920 x 1080 (1080i) resolution recording, “Face Chaser” face detection technology, 300fps slow motion mode, 4.0-megapixel stills, SDHC card slot, 10x optical zoom, and a 2.7-inch LCD display. Samsung Korea has released the VM-HMX20 HD flash-based camcorder that features a 6.4MP CMOS sensor and electronic image stabilization. The camcorder supports a full HD and a 1080p mode with 30 fps recording ability and able to record fast motion at 300 frames per second for up to 10 seconds and then drastically slow down the playback of the recording. Samsung’s proprietary swivel hand-grip makes this video recorder to record in multiple angles, including regular and low-angle shots. The Samsung VM-HMX20 comes with a 2.7inch LCD and supports Anynet+ connection to HDTVs, which grants consumers to control the camcorder though their HDTV remote while viewing movies. The Samsung Korea VM-HMX20 HD flash-based camcorder is priced at around $900 (899,000 Korean Won). [AVING]

DXG will be launching a new camcorder called the 569V. It can shoot 1280 x 720 video at 30 fps, captures 5 megapixel still photos and has a 3-inch foldout LCD for a low price of $169. I guess DXG is the way to go if you want both a bargain and quality. [Engadget]

Sanyo this day introduced their new Xacti DMX-CA8 camcorder that offers 8MP CMOS sensor, 5x optical Zoom, face Chaser mode that does facial recognition even when underwater, compatible with JIS IPX5 and IPX8 Japanese standard, waterproof up to 1 hour underwater at 1.5m depth, and can record video files in MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 at 60fps in VGA.
